At the Water Treatment Plant

This week for co-op with Eclectic Momma, It's A Boy's Life, and other friends, we went to the local water treatment plant.
This is a model of the water filtration system - rocks, sand, charcoal, and ceramic balls.

We had a tour (with a fabulous tour guide) of the plant and learned where the water comes from and how it is cleaned and why it is cleaned.

Yellow indicates bacteria.

The bright blue indicates e. coli.

All the cool equipment made me want to start learning some chemistry!

Big machines for filtering out the water.

Smaller filaments for filtering.

Big tanks full of water and one full of salt . . .

. . . for making bleach in this machine.

More tanks.

And loud machines.
