"If that's being queer, then we could do with a bit more queerness in these parts." - Fellowship of the Ring, p. 47
He was adventurous, had odd companions, gave presents to everyone - not just his friends. These were the accusations against Bilbo and thus the label, "queer." But being different can be a very good thing.
What if people were more generous and friendly? What if you were? What if we were more daring and less afraid? What if I were? What if people who say they're Christians actually give their whole lives to Christ? Can you imagine the difference in our world? Oh sure, we would be ridiculed for being foolish and strange. We may not get rich or even live in much physical comfort. We may not have much time for ourselves, but who cares? Small price to pay for the glory it would bring to God, for the spiritual comfort and joy that would fill our hearts, the hearts of our children, and the lives we touch. That's what I want. What do you want?
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." 1 Peter 2:9

  1. Good thoughts...thanks for sharing! I too want to be set apart for Jesus Christ and His will! You are right, it's hard sometimes and one is NOT going to be popular, but it is SOOOO worth it! :)
